In Touch With The Night

The beautiful disc of the moon
Shines above me now a slither.
Growing, growing,
Her world awakes.

The sight of the moon reminds me of what is really important: being here in the world, connecting with it. It helps to simplify things, just being there, instead of thinking so much. We need these times to recharge, there is a time for planning, but mostly there’s a time for living.

I love a full moon and doing a little star gazing, not that we get much chance in urban areas.

It sounds like you’re moving in a slightly Zen direction here. The truth is that the spiritual is all around us, even in the things we thing of as mundane or profane.

A theme that’s been running for me since my time at Unstone is letting go of the books, letting go of the rules, stop thinking so much and just try to live it.

Indeed, Zen lends itself very nicely to poetry - and I quite understand your meaning, letting go of the rules and books and thoughts seems very much the challenge for us “trying to figure it all out” folks.

The amount of time I catch myself drifting into reading books trying to find some answer, to the extent that the reading is the escape and the avoidance of the real issue. Books can be inspiring - helping us to tap into the wisdom and spirit within us, I think that’s the most helpful way of looking at them.

    Sounds good my friend:

Life? Let’s just try to live it.
