I Cried The Tears Of A Child…

Let tears descend upon you,
Let grief be your awakening.

Often we need to break through the unreal in order to experience the real (and thus the part of life and ourselves that brings us true and deep peace and fulfillment).  There can be many reasons for holding back our tears, but none will lead to freedom.

You’re spot on my friend, we are already enlightened, we already have peace and fulfillment. We refuse to see the truth, we’re like thirsty people who’ve been led to water, but can’t see that it’s what we need. We’re so blinded by the unreal world of the senses, always thinking that the next achievement or purchase will do the trick, when it won’t. We’re dying of a spiritual thirst because of that.

I too am guilty of holding back my tears, till I read this I’d put it to the back of my mind trying to tough it out, now I realise that without the release of our tears we can never truly live in the moment, our regrets will always drag us away.

Ah, loved your post Rich, I love how my words spark off thoughts in you and you go off and take them further, or even in a completely different direction.

A very wise friend of mine speaks of willingness. If we are not willing to experience sadness, we may never experience its opposite - like a wave with its peak and trough, the two cannot be separated. So let us be here, now, with whatever our experience is, and let that quench the thirst we’ve had ever since we were taught that water wasn’t what we should have.
