Yep, that's it buddy. We can find that support in many ways, God can be found in many forms and in many guises. If God is Love, then love can be found in all forms, and in all things, and it is that support that can keep us going. Being human, it is natural for us to find support in our friends and family. For me, my spiritual practice was once to get away from life and the world, but now it seems to have shifted and turned back on itself, so that I am actually getting more involved with life, and more involved with people.

And Paulo, thanks bud. I'm glad you like it.

That's exactly what it reminded me of as well! Of course, it's terribly Tao in imagery as well, especially with the waves nearly washing away the footprints. A lovely new look bud!

That's the one. Clearly it was a poem, not a quote. I'm not a religious man so I like to think that the role of the LORD can be played by ones friends and family - carrying you along the path when you can walk no more.

Ah yes, Nicola. It reminds me of that one as well. Such a moving poem, it has brought a tear to my eye on more than one occasion. It speaks to that vulnerable part of us, entrenched in sadness and fear, and it reminds us that if we feel alone in this world, it is because we are not seeing things as they are, but as we think or fear they are. Seeing clearly, there is love beyond our thought of human love, compassion itself, where your suffering and mine are not separate, because you and I are not separate.

Footprints in the Sand - quite topical considering your photo. It was the poem below that first came into my mind on seeing it.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Glad you like. Though one would say if you can't remember it, it hasn't reminded you very well. Hahaha.

Seriously though, let me know if you remember, quoting some Jesus could be good as a witty comeback when I am inevitably called Jesus on my travels around town. ;)

Good picture. Reminds of a Jesus quote that I can't quite remember.
