.. but not a lonely one. I see that interest in the site here has grown steadily over the months.

I think the danger with this kind of activity, writing out to an unknown and faceless audience, the natural feedback of “I liked what you did” or “I didn’t like what you did” or “you writing touched me” or “your writing was boring and I won’t be back”sometimes gets lost. It is easy to become an impersonal consumer, viewing things you like without ever letting the author know who you are or that you are there. I am guilty of this myself. But if we do not take the time to say “thank you for writing this, it made a difference to my life”, then how can we hope for continued writings on the author’s part? Writing and expressing oneself is not just about who hears it, but it is nice to be appreciated, and it can be the difference between enthusiasm and feeling that expression is fruitless.

I have made an effort to rectify this in my own interactions, remembering that even in a global and often faceless world of the internet, there are real people behind those computer screens, and a thank you goes a long way.

Still, authors can be blind, seeing only what they want to see, just as I have. We’re up to 800 hits a month, and all this time I thought there was little interest in what I have to say (and unfortunately, I had little interest in what I had to say as well). I have been blind to what is right in front of me. All I needed was a little encouragement, and today I got that, from my good buddy Paulo. So, thank you Paulo, for blowing in my sails a little more. Now what comes with a long time out of circulation, and a lot of things happening in between, I feel it time for a new look, a new presentation of my expression and getting my writings and thoughts out there. I’ve been busy writing a book, which I’ll continue to do, and may well use some of this site here as a way of exploring the ideas within it.

But, until things change, let me reassure you that I’m back, and new postings will be a little more frequent than they have been for a while.
