There is something hugely uplifting about groups of birds sweeping across the sky. For a moment, watching becomes being, and it’s you up there free and wild, playful in the wind, dancing.

Compare that to a jumbo jet, hulking and ridiculous gliding straight and true through the air, so unnatural looking.

What is flying without grace? What is travelling for the sake of the destination and not the journey? Where’s the fun in going from here to there if you can’t do a few swoops along the way?
