The Ebb And Flow
Those of you who visit the site and have enjoyed reading its contents have probably noticed the lack of articles and posts of late. I just had a look at a monthly breakdown, and when it was launched in April, I posted 10 things, in May 6, in June 2, and in July 3. Nothing in August. A simple graph will show you that the site has steadily been decling since its conception, dying from the moment it was born. I have to ask myself, is this just the ebb and flow of creativity or expression? Sometimes there are things to be said, other times, not. Certainly I have lost what passion I had for this project, suddenly questioning whether I have the wisdom to speak these things to you, or if I am simply a hypocrite, saying one thing but failing to do it myself in the same breath.
Perhaps posts have also been less frequent because my spiritual interests and practices have grown decidedly more spiritual of late, in that I have been dealing directly with spirits, practicing animism [all is alive, everything has spirit, everything is connected.. just like our ancestors and most tribal cultures believe and practice]. It has been a very fulfilling time for me, to have taken my interest in this one step further so that it is truly embuing all of my life. But, it is also often a deeply personal journey and interaction, and so doesn’t lend itself to sharing in quite the same way as my more “accessible to mainstream consciousness” wisdom does.
So, the future of abarefootman.co.uk in its current incarnation may be somewhat uncertain.
Bah, how serious I have grown! A joke then…
Q: What do you call a dinosaur with only one eye?
A: Do-you-think-he-saurus!
That’s better.

I think you’re experiencing what every blogger experiences shortly after their initial blogging “high”. If you look at my journal, you’ll find a similar pattern: early frequent posts, followed by a steady stream of much less frequent posts. In my case these tend to come monthly, but many other places work on a weekly frequency.
Does this make the blog any less worth? I don’t think so. Chances are, the content quality improves, and the real life experiences increase in numbers and significance.
After all, what’s the point of talking about one’s life experiences if one doesn’t take the time to experience life?

You make an excellent point Nick, and I thank you for it! While the blog is here, it can be used for enjoyment, it need not be a chore, and it need not be updated regularly if there is no pull to do so. Life is for the living, so check me tomorrow.
